Canidates should meet the minimum requirements:
- Have a high school diploma or a GED
- Must have lived experience with substance use disorder or mental health
- 2 years of sustained recovery
- 2-years of complete abstinence from mind or mood altering substances
- At least 18 years old
- Cannot have any violent charges, sexual charges, or active warrants
- Submit a valid background check
To apply, you must:
- Submit a complete, signed application.
- Submit a copy of a GED, high school diploma, or higher-level education diploma or transcript.
- Attest to having a minimum of two years of abstinence-based recovery from substance use and/or a mental health disorder.
- Attest that you have read, understand, and will adhere to the Arkansas Peer Recovery Code of Ethics.
- Submit a copy of a background check completed in the last 60 days.
- Email the complete, signed application and all supporting documentation.

Applications are reviewed by the DHS approved certification entity each month.
If your application is accepted, a staff member from NAADAC will notify you with a phone call and a follow-up email explaining the next steps. If your application is denied, you will receive an email explaining the reasons for denial along with possible next steps for you to apply again.
