Build your future through certification
In Arkansas, there are three levels of Peer Recovery Support certification:
- Core Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS)
- Advanced Peer Recovery Specialist (APRS)
- Peer Recovery Supervisor (PRS)
STEP 1: Apply
- Apply for our Core Peer Recovery Specialist training at www.ar.gov/recovery.
- Your application cannot be reviewed until you’ve completed all information, signed the application, and provided all supporting documentation.
STEP 2: Attend Core training
- Once accepted into the program, you will complete a 1-week, 30-hour course.
- After training, you must request to be paired with a Peer Recovery Supervisor (PRS).
- Once your PRS has agreed to supervise you, you are now considered a Peer-in-Training (PIT).
STEP 3: Complete Certification Hours
- Complete an additional 30 continued education hours.
- Complete 500 experience hours, which can be work or volunteer hours as a peer worker.
- Complete 25 hours of direct peer supervision (individual or group).
STEP 4: Pass the Core Credentialing Exam
- Once hours are complete, sign up to test through NAADAC, our certification agency.
- Any score equivalent to or higher than 70% is considered a passing score.
STEP 5: Apply for National Certification
- Complete the test-exempt application for NCCAP Peer Certification through NAADAC.
